The last and most fun piece for today's decorating blogging is my Dali-esque lamp. She’s actually a vase that I acquired when my boss at my internship in Russia, years ago, received her as a gift and didn’t want her. Lucky me. Someday I might repaint her, but for the time being the blue works. One day sitting in our kitchen here deciding what to do with her/where to put her, a light bulb went on in my head (ha. ha.). Now that she’s functional it’s great having her beside the bed; one of these days i'll have to drill a hole in her so you can't see the cord. I made and painted the origami flowers to place around the light bulb in the past couple weeks and I think it was a great finishing touch, in fact I’ve really fallen in love with the idea of origami flower bouquets. You don’t have to worry about them dying, and most everybody has some paper lying around looking for new life. And also you don’t have to worry about being allergic to them. I’ll be making more of these bouquets to liven up our place.

Fabulous! She's dual-purpose now.
I'd forgotten the story of this vase, and always thought it was a bit random and strange. But her transformation here is fantastic! And can I just say that I love the origami flower bouquet?! Keep 'em coming!
