Handmade Love

So (late! i know....shame on me) I finished my craft swap project and mailed it off; can't show you pictures obviously, in case my craft swap partner happens upon my blog; that would ruin the suprise! But I got to attach one of these which was truly a fun moment for me! I also had B pick up the Origami flowers for M today and I used one of these little guys to make him a gift card to write on... Hopefully she loves them.
Which all reminded me; have you taken The Handmade Pledge? Check it out, learn more about handmade! Then you could be getting one of these in the mail, but customized just for you.
What else is new today; I did a lot of surfing blogs today, got hooked on Design Sponge (no suprise there) and decided to go ahead and enter my flowers in the DIY contest. Why not right?
I also found out about a Patchwork Contest sponsored by Brother; though I have zero experience quilting I'm considering giving it a go anyway because (1) all skill levels are welcome (2) i have nothing to lose (3) i love learning new crafts and (4) i could win a quilting/embroidery machine package worth 5000euros (not likely but you can't win if you don't try!). So why not right? The theme is Brother: "50 years in Europe"; not really the most readily inspiring theme, but a challenge is good. If you are interested let me know I'll send you the details; I found this site, but haven't created a login ID so I'm not sure exactly what it contains. I found out about the contest through S; I met her through a newcomers club here. She was incredibly generous in loaning me a sewing machine for several days while I am looking into getting my own; she teaches patch-working here in Cork and so is the proud owner of several machines. If you are living here and interested in classes, let me know and I'll put you in touch with her.
So have you noticed I'm in a "why not?" frame of mind? I think its because I've been upping my intake of raw foods in the past couple days and am getting a lovely burst of energy and happiness from it. Also have been home making copious cups of spiced tea using rice milk (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, cayenne pepper, and a little dark brown sugar) and that's keeping me toasty....
Happy Valentine's day!
