Secondhand Books and Parlor Games

Went to a secondhand bookshop near Tesco today and stumbled upon A Book of Delights by John Madfield. Picked it up purely based on the spine and title and was so pleasantly suprised; it is an anthology of various comments and poetry pertaining to the idea that happiness is not an accident, but something which you must actively seek out. It is also interspersed with interesting art and photography. Definitely will use this as a tool for inspiration. Finding it reminded me of another book I discovered some time ago, called Parlor Games, published in 1887!! (On the front page the original price of Fifty Cents) It's rather fragile but such a happy discovery! The style in which it is written is very proper yet lighthearted, and the games contained therein are quite intriguing. Of course they have charades, but one in particular that was so unique was a game called Shadow Portraits; that involves drawing each party goers face in silhouette and then hanging each drawing on the wall at which point the guessing begins I think add some crazy hats and it gets really interesting...
