Inspired by Scientific Thought
Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 01:07PM It's very difficult to get good pictures of pencil drawings (at least for an amateur with a lack of great lighting) so apologies for the quality here. Even so I wanted to share some drawings in progress. It has been a while since I've picked up a pencil, but last night inspiration took over and so here's the beginnings of a few works. The first image will likely be titled Girl Dreams of Gears or something along those lines. I have a theme in mind for a small series basically women thinking/daydreaming of mechanical creations or science related images. I'm inspired by science, math, mechanisms, proportions, order within apparent chaos in nature, the reason's why things are the way they are, and I wanted to find a way to express this through drawing; well the idea in general that women do not just dream of shoes.
If you want to be inspired go browse How Stuff Works. Or read Unweaving the Rainbow. Or pick up a copy of American Scientist. Or read A Brief History of Time. Ideas to blow your mind...
