Painted Eggs in Salzberg

I almost passed out when we came upon this shop in Salzberg, Austria. Literally THOUSANDS of hand painted eggs that they sell all year round; not just for easter. They are quite beautiful, so many different ideas and no two are exactly alike. I inquired at the cash register to learn that they are all painted by Austrian house-wives and students. This is my kind of store. I bought two eggs with simple designs but gorgeous colors that now hang from my reading lamp near the bed.

I, too had the great privilege of coming upon this store while in Salzburg. It was truly a beautiful and unbelievable site. I would love to have brought 50 or 60 different eggs home with me just to show friends what I have been trying to describe to them ever since! I do treasure the one I did buy, but wish I had taken the plunge and gotten a few more.
