(working on J's Dress)

I had a wonderful night last night at the pub with my Bubs, and a couple other boys from his work, having a lengthy discussion of politics and religion and morality and change and what is the best way to create change. Throughout my life experiences I've found that personal change is a gradual process of self education, often influenced by those people you come into contact with that you love and respect. It was a slow climb for me to realize that it didn't have to be about jealousy or competition; it seems like the easy road to complain about what I do not have: things, or qualities. It came from a place of viewing things or people as *perfection*. The slow and gradual undoing of that line of thinking has had many roots; one of them realizing that no one and nothing is perfect. With that fundamental realization, I started opening myself up to learning from those I respected and admired, and found I was free to change free to pursue the person I am and want to be. Sure there are slip-ups along the way, its a process not a destination, right? One of the things we talked about last night, and that Bubs and I talk about a great deal is that it's very hard not to want and expect a complete change RIGHT NOW. I think it can blind you to the change unfolding slowly before your eyes; much in the way you may not have seen the flowers budding but suddenly you notice the blooms.
Tying back into the best ways to create change, I'll quote from Banana Man's about me quotes:
"the best way to make others happy is to be happy yourself"
"the best way to make others healthy is to become incredibly healthy yourself!"
"if you want the world to change, you have to change"

I'm embracing and excited about change in my life right now. In fact, I'm so excited to move into our new place this weekend and begin making it our own! Decor8's recent post has given me all kinds of ideas. Now I just have to remember my own words about not expecting it to happen immediately....

beautiful post Laura! and you look beautiful too!

I love what you said about the blooming flowers. It is true that when we focus on the future we lose sight of the present! I love that feeling like, where has the time gone? I'm almost half way done with my juice feast and Charlotte is turning 1 years old!

I love you and admire you to no end!!!
