Cake Topper Challenge

I received a request last week from a customer interested in a custom cake topper for her wedding cake. Having never attempted such a thing, I was excited about the challenge. And indeed a challenge it was. Folding such tiny flowers required a lot of patience and focus. Then I needed to get creative with how I would create an arc with them. After an unsuccessful attempt at creating the arch with basket reed, I braided silver craft wire into a suitable and adjustable structure. I tied (no pun intended) it all together with a soft cream colored ribbon to bridge the gap between the stark white of the flowers and the warm color of the reed. I'm pleased that the bits of the silver braid that show through the ribbon complement the silver edges of the flowers.
What do you think?

Wow -- absolutely beautiful.

I LOVE the interactive book of your work. Awesome.

This is absolutely gorgeous - the amount of detail on here is exquisite. I cannot imagine the amount of patience it took to fold those flowers!

This cake topper is beautiful. The intricacy and detail is amazing! The effect is extraordinary and so fitting for a wedding. It would make a lovely reef too.
