Keep Your Eyes Open

moss on the walls, jan 09

life in waiting, jan 09

So after getting my library membership within the past couple months I've been trying to devour loads of information related to permaculture, gardening, and foraged food (among other fiction and random interests). I think its not at all surprising that I love digging around in the dirt (considering my skill at making messes), but I really didn't realize what a passion I had for it until last years Guerrilla Gardening. And even after that I didn't really do anything to act on this new interest. Now though, having access to the library and discovered WWOOF (more about that in another post...) this enthusiasm is being put into practice, or more appropriately, an education. Inspired by my reading I started taking walks, this time with my eyes open, paying attention to what was growing and living all around me. And the wealth and abundance around me, yes, even in winter, is simply incredible. Even those things which appear to be dead are just seeds waiting for an opportunity. Right now as I see many of those around me being affected by troubled times, I have found it sustaining and uplifting. I want to encourage you to notice abundance (in nature) around you.

the daffodils will be here soon, feb 09
