Dancing in the Rain

Well, tonight is the big night! Opening night of Cork Fashion Week and I'm competing against 4 other talented designers for the Young Fashion Designer award. I've had a couple glimpses of the other designers' work and I have no doubt this is going to be an amazing and diverse range of design work on showcase tonight; it's an honor to be showing alongside these gifted indiviuals. I can't wait to see the show and am so excited to be a part of it!
Just a touch of background:
My collection began with a memory of a vintage silk umbrella which had belonged to my grandmother; it could have been used equally well as a parasol. I knew I wanted to design for a carefree and confident woman, smiling in any weather. The completed collection includes knit tops, draped silks, lots of hand crocheted details, and fluid feminine shapes. And after a lot of hunting I managed to locate umbrellas of the same shape as the one from my memory; I stenciled them with lace patterns to give them a distinctly vintage feel. My name for this capsule is Dancing in the Rain.
Will absolutely post some pictures of the show next week. Alright, off to do the last bits of ironing, and then get myself ready!
