Painting of a howling wolf over a suminagashi print.
Suminagashi is a Japanese meditative marbling technique which involves floating ink on water and then when the desired effect is achieved paper is laid on the surface to fix the unique design on to paper. The process involves a capitulation to natural or wild forces. This pairs well with the various images of wolves represented in this series. I chose the wolf in this variety of expressions because I'm troubled by our cultural habit of suppressing, shaming, and disregarding expressions of anger, warning, ferocity, grief and love.
